Walk, explore and play on site, there is something for everyone to discover! Purchase a trail map from the centre to explore the woods and see who you might find along the way! Pathways are buggy friendly. Hanningfield is also home to some well-loved characters from the Wind in the Willows stories. The reservoir itself is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to the important numbers of wildfowl that use the reservoir in the autumn and winter, including Gadwall, Tufted Duck and Pochard. Bosting lovely woodland walks, taking in bird hides and views across the water. Set in mature woodland the nature reserve has proved a popular bat roost with a beautiful carpet of Bluebells in the Spring. The Nature Discovery Centre offers superb views over the 870 acre Hanningfield Reservoir. ![]()
